  • Behavior, Rules and Expectations In Gym

    All school rules will be enforced as well as the following:

    • Respect others and their property
    • Follow the teachers’ directions at all times
    • Gum, candy, food and drink will not be allowed at any time in the gym
    • Report to class each day wearing your P.E. clothes
    • Exercise self-control: Be courteous, no class disruption, no profanity, etc.
    • Show good sportsmanship and respect the rights of others
    • No writing on P.E. equipment or walls
    • respect all P. E. equipment, indoors and out
    • wear tennis shoes and proper P. E. attire when participating.
    • keep your hands to yourself
    • do not leave the gym area without permission from a teacher
    • "whistle" - stop - look and listen 

    Locker Warnings

    • Never share your combination with anyone including friends.
    • Be sure no one is observing you while using your combination.
    • Always lock large sums of money or valuable jewelry in lockers at all times or ask me to lock it away for you until the end of class.
    • Be sure your lock is secure.
      Roll tumbler and pull down on lock.  
    • If a student loses their lock, it is their responsibility to purchase a new lock.
    • Any misuse of equipment, misconduct or stealing in the locker room will result in disciplinary measures.
    • Unclaimed articles left in the locker room for a long period of time will be placed in the lost and found.

    Locker Room Procedures

    All lockers in the Physical Education Department at Taylor Middle School are the property of the Taylor ISD and will be provided for student use.  However, costs may be assessed at the end of the school term for damage considered over and above normal use of the lockers.

       Offensive or derogatory pictures or displays are prohibited. Lockers are to be kept neat, clean and locked at all times. Students will be assigned lockers and are not to share lockers with friends. Students are not allowed to switch lockers. 

    Students are to:

    1. Report directly to their assigned locker
    2. Unlock lock in a timely manner
    3. Change into P.E. clothes
    4. Place all belongings inside locker
    5. Close locker door and secure lock (never leave your lock on the bench), and sit down until told to report to the gym.
    6. Line up in your designated area for attendance and warm up activities.

    SAFETY NOTICE

    The physical education instructor will, to the very best of her ability, make all activities as safe as possible. Be aware that injuries can and do occur in all aspects of physical activity. The student or parent needs to make the teacher aware of any physical mental, or emotional problems regarding the safety of the student at all times. If an injury occurs, no matter how insignificant, the teacher must be notified immediately.

    Doctor's excuses are honored with a letter from the students' physician stating the following:

    • Doctor's printed name
    • Doctor's office phone number
    • The specific dates the student is excused from PE activity
    • The specific date the student may return to participation
    • All missed activity days must be made up at the teacher's discretion
    • Student will be responsible for classroom work and conduct while excused
