Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • Career & Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the hands-on experience needed to be successful after high school. Students starting in middle school have the opportunity to explore a variety of careers, from engineering and culinary arts to health science and law enforcement. Alongside the students' coursework, they are exposed to real-world experiences such as guest speakers, job shadowing, internships, and more.

    There are 16 CTE programs of study in TISD that meet high school graduation endorsement requirements. Each of these programs of study has a career pathway that provides coherent, articulated sequences of rigorous CTE courses. End of program industry-recognized certificates and/or licenses are available for most programs of study.

    Through a partnership with Peterbilt Motors and Rush Trucking, our students can learn diesel mechanics
    Peterbilt Promotes Diesel Education Within Schools
    • In 2021, 100 percent of students in our advanced welding program earned industry certifications.
    • Taylor High School Culinary Arts Classes operate Top Flight, a fully-licensed restaurant that is open  to serve our community.
    • Taylor ISD offers career pathways in manufacturing, welding, automotive technology, floral design, agriculture, business, culinary,  health science, design media, education and Training and STEM.
    • Through a partnership with Apple, every high school student is provided an iPad to support student learning.

    Taylor ISD offers career and technical education programs in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Architecture and Construction, Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications, Business, Marketing, and Finance, Education and Training, Health Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturing, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and Transportation. Admission to these programs is open to all students, but some courses may require a prerequisite course.

    It is the policy of Taylor ISD not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
